Hi there 👋 I’m Kev Quirk. Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Here you can learn a bit about me, my interests and what makes me tick.

During the day I work in Information Security. I’m a Senior Vice President at Bank of America, where I lead the Cyber Exercise team. InfoSec has been my career for a long time, although I started out in the British Army where I served all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

These days I live in the Welsh countryside on a 2.5 acre smallholding, which I share with animals, kids, and my very patient wife.

My hobbies & interests

This blog is probably the hobby I spend the most time on. I enjoy sharing my thoughts here and the conversations that follow.

When I’m not at the keyboard, I’m usually outside looking after our animals or working around the smallholding. I like riding and tinkering with my motorbikes, collecting watches, and unwinding with friends or a good book. There’s always something that needs doing, and I enjoy the mix of practical jobs and quieter moments.

Motorbikes

I’ve been into motorbikes for as long as I can remember. I’ve ridden for many years, I’m an advanced motorcyclist with IAM RoadSmart, and I’ve owned all sorts of bikes along the way, from big tourers to naked sportsbikes. I enjoy spannering on them just as much as riding, and there’s always a project or tweak happening in the garage.

I currently have two bikes in the garage: a 2025 BMW S1000XR TE and a 2021 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. You can see the full list of bikes I’ve owned here.

Watch collecting

I’ve been collecting watches for a couple of years now. I’ve got a real soft spot for pieces from Casio, but my collection includes plenty of other makers too. I tend to gravitate toward vintage digital watches and field watches, although I do have a few divers and dress watches in the mix.

I like collecting watches that feel interesting rather than expensive, and the priciest one I own is around £650.

Picking a favourite is impossible. Some are nostalgic, some I’ve had for years, and some are just plain beautiful. Each watch in my collection has a rating so you can see which ones stand out for me.

Pets

We have lots of pets in Casa del Quirk. There’s 2 dogs, a blind cat, a flock of chickens and four fish tanks that together hold around 150 fish and a few hundred shrimp.

I get a lot of enjoyment from keeping fish. There’s something calming about a quiet house and a well-lit tank full of activity.
